One of the themes of Chanukah is the perseverance of light over darkness. Holocaust survivors, like my great grandmother Lily Ebert, are powerful lights that guide us and make the world a brighter place. Wishing a warm and wonderful Chanukah to all those celebrating. https://t.co/DjIxXzxLaH

Music

The Waldegrave Music Department prides itself on offering a co-curriculum which is both inclusive and diverse. We offer a wide range of different musical groups including 3 choirs, Uketopia, Rock Club, Senior Orchestra, Swing Band, String Orchestra and many more. All of these groups run throughout the school week and are free of charge. Full details can be found on the school website under ‘Extracurricular - What Do We Do?’.

To showcase these groups we have an ever evolving concert programme both internally, externally, internationally and in nationwide festivals. The two highlights of the in house concert programme are the Christmas Concert, which culminates in a finale with around 300 students performing, and the Performing Arts Summer Festival. We also run an Acoustic Cafe which features smaller student led groups, and the department takes a leading role in borough wide concerts running the Secondary Schools' orchestra. Once a year we join forces with Hampton School for the lower school musical staged at the Hammond Theatre and in addition we stage our own musical once every two years.

In addition, throughout the school week we have 19 visiting music staff delivering voice and instrumental lessons to over 300 students.

There are two possible routes for learning an instrument in school:

1. The first option is to apply for lessons with one of our own team of visiting music staff. These teachers are all recruited directly by the Waldegrave Music Department. Many work as professional performers and many are conservatoire trained; all have an outstanding track record in teaching.

The Music Lessons Terms and Conditions can be downloaded here.

Music Lessons Terms and Conditions

To request an application form please email music@waldegrave.org.uk

2. The second option is to book a lesson directly through the Richmond Music Trust with one of their team of teachers. This can be done via the Richmond Music Trust website where you can also find all the details for their provision of lessons.
