Admission Numbers

The proposed admission numbers for 2018-19 and 2019-20 for Waldegrave School are as follows:

Year 7 – 216, Year 12 – 150

Admissions to Year 7 for September 2018 & 2019

Admissions for Year 7 are managed by the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, not by the school. Offers for September 2018 will be sent out by the Local Authority.

Applications from Richmond’s residents will be made on Richmond’s Common Application Form, which will be available in paper form and online.

Admission to Sixth Form for September 2018 & 2019

The Planned Admission Number for entry into Year 12 will be 150.

Late applications

Applications received after the closing date of 31 October 2018 will only be considered after all applications received by the closing date. This is unless you are able to provide proof that there were exceptional reasons that prevented you from applying on time.  Late applications are co-ordinated by the School Admissions Department at Richmond Council.

Waiting List

A waiting list for the school will be held by the Local Authority in criteria order (regardless of when an application is received) until the end of the academic year in July 2020.  After this date the school waiting lists will be disbanded and parents will have to request in writing to have their child’s name added to a waiting list for the school.

In-year Admissions

Admissions for the present Year 7 to 11 are co-ordinated by the School Admissions Department at Richmond Council. The admissions team can be contacted by telephone on 020 8547 5569 during normal office hours.

Appeals Process

Waldegrave School Admission Appeals Timetable - Year 7 September 2018

If your child has been refused a place at your preferred secondary school, you may appeal the decision of the admissions authority. Your reasons for appealing will then be considered by an independent panel.

Important dates and deadlines

The following appeal dates apply to children starting school in September 2018.

  • Deadline for lodging secondary appeals: 20 April 2018
  • Waldegrave School are using the Richmond Independent Appeals Service and appeals are scheduled to be heard between 14 May 2018 and 29 June 2018

Open Morning Tours Spring/Summer 2019

Tours of the school for prospective parents will take place on the following dates:

  • Friday 1 March 9-9.30am
  • Thursday 4 April 9-9.30am
  • Friday 10 May 9-9.30am
  • Thursday 6 June 9-9.30am
These will be tours of the working school with a member of leadership. Tours will start from 9am to be completed by 9.30am.

Eventbrite - Morning Tours of Waldegrave School 2019

Once booked you will receive an email with a  ticket. Please print the ticket or download to your mobile phone and show on the door to gain entry.  Unfortunately we are not able to admit visitors without a ticket.


Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

There is no minimum age but all members of a group (including children) must have a ticket. ID is not required as long as the ticket is presented. 

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is no parking on site and visitors are encouraged to walk or to use public transport. 

What are access arrangements?

We welcome all visitors and we are happy to adapt our tours as necessary We do not have a lift so we apologise that some visitors may be unable to see every area. Please don't allow that to put you off - there is still plenty to see.

What can I bring into the event?

Please do not bring large bags. Prams may be brought into school but due to narrow corridors and stairs we request that they are parked in the foyer and babies are carried.
