Admissions to Year 7 for September 2020

Admissions for Year 7 are managed by the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, not by the school. Offers for September 2020 will be sent out by the Local Authority.

Late applications

Applications received after the closing date of 31 October 2019 only be considered after all applications received by the closing date. This is unless you are able to provide proof that there were exceptional reasons that prevented you from applying on time.  Late applications are co-ordinated by the School Admissions Department at Richmond Council.

Waiting List

A waiting list for the school will be held by the Local Authority in criteria order (regardless of when an application is received) until the end of the academic year in July 2020.  After this date the school waiting lists will be disbanded and parents will have to request in writing to have their child’s name added to a waiting list for the school.

Admissions for the present Year 7 to 11 are co-ordinated by the School Admissions Department at Richmond Council. The admissions team can be contacted by telephone on 020 8547 5569 during normal office hours.

Appeals Process

Waldegrave School Admission Appeals Timetable - Year 7 September 2020

If your child has been refused a place at your preferred secondary school, you may appeal the decision of the admissions authority. Your reasons for appealing will then be considered by an independent panel.

Important dates and deadlines

The following appeal dates apply to children starting school in September 2020.

  • Deadline for lodging secondary appeals: 20 April 2020
  • Waldegrave School are using the Richmond Independent Appeals Service and appeals are scheduled to be heard between 18 May 2020 and 22 June 2020 (excluding half term week 25-29 May inclusive)

Open Morning Tours October 2019

Due to high demand all the open morning dates below are now fully booked.  If you have been unable to book and would like to be added to the waiting list please email info@waldegrave.org.uk and we will inform you if we have any cancellations and a place becomes available.  Please note that we will also be offering additional tours of the school in the Spring/Summer term 2020 for Year 5 parents/carers.

These are tours of the working school with student guides, tours  will start from 9am to be completed by 9.55am. You are also invited to attend a talk in the Hall with the Headteacher, Ms Tongue, at 10am.  

If you have booked you will receive an email with a  ticket. Please print the ticket or download it to your mobile phone and bring to the event to gain admission.  Please note that tickets are strictly limited and all visitors (including children) must have a ticket to gain admittance.  There is no parking on site.
