Admission Numbers

The proposed admission numbers for 2017-18 for Waldegrave School are as follows:

Year 7 – 216, Year 12 – 140

Admissions to Year 7 for September 2017

Admissions for Year 7 are managed by the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, not by the school. Offers for September 2017 will be sent out by the Local Authority.

Applications from Richmond’s residents will be made on Richmond’s Common Application Form, which will be available in paper form and online.

From September 2015 the Planned Admission Number for entry into Year 7 will be 216.

Admission to Sixth Form for September 2017

From September 2015 the Planned Admission Number for entry into Year 12 will be 140.

Late applications

Applications received after the closing date of 31 October 2016 will only be considered after all applications received by the closing date. This is unless you are able to provide proof that there were exceptional reasons that prevented you from applying on time.  Late applications are co-ordinated by the School Admissions Department at Richmond Council.

Waiting List

A waiting list for the school will be held by the Local Authority in criteria order (regardless of when an application is received) until the end of the academic year in July 2017.  After this date the school waiting lists will be disbanded and parents will have to request in writing to have their child’s name added to a waiting list for the school.

Admissions for the present Year 7 to 11 are co-ordinated by the School Admissions Department at Richmond Council. The admissions team can be contacted by telephone on 020 8891 7514 during normal office hours.

Appeals Process

Waldegrave School Admission Appeals Timetable - Year 7 September 2017

If your child has been refused a place at your preferred secondary school, you may appeal the decision of the admissions authority. Your reasons for appealing will then be considered by an independent panel.

Important dates and deadlines

The following appeal dates apply to children starting school in September 2017.

  • Deadline for lodging secondary appeals: 21 April 2017
  • Waldegrave School are using the Richmond Independent Appeals Service and appeals are scheduled to be heard between 15 May 2017 and 30 June 2017
