Multi Academy Trust
Waldegrave School became an Academy in August 2012. After a thorough consideration of the benefits, Governors decided conversion would be in the best interests of the school on the basis that much would stay the same. The extra resources gained as a result of converting to Academy status have been used to enhance the experiences of the students in the school.
In April 2016 Waldegrave School started to work with Teddington School to support Twickenham Academy and Hampton High through the formation of a new trust, Richmond West Schools Trust (RWST).
In November 2016, Hampton High and Twickenham Academy joined The Richmond West Schools Trust (RWST). This is a multi-academy trust (MAT) led by Waldegrave School and Teddington School. This trust was established in order to provide new governance for Hampton High and Twickenham Academy. Waldegrave School and Teddington School will join RWST from January 2018.
The vision of the trust is that all schools are good or outstanding by 2019.
The trust brings together four local schools in order to ensure high standards of education and a focus on Teaching, Learning and Leadership for the local community shared by these schools. Led by the Executive Headteachers of Teddington School and Waldegrave School, the trust provides the systems and structures needed to ensure the success of all of the schools.
Each school in the trust has its own distinct identity and ethos. They each have their own vision, values and mission statements. They are united in a common belief in the strength of community education and the desire to ensure the entire community has access to the same high standards of education in the individual settings of each school.
The governance structure of RWST comprises the Board of Trustees and a Local Governing Body for each of the schools in the trust. More information on how this works is contained in the Scheme of Delegation.
