Remembrance Activity

Posted on 17th Nov

This year we focused on the centenary of the end of the Passchendaele campaign, which was fought from 31 July to 10 November 1917.  Students learned about the hardships of the campaign and the daily act of remembrance held at the Menin Gate in Ypres, before recording their responses on a poppy.  The Sixth Form’s responses are displayed in the shape of a poppy in the entrance to the Sixth Form Block and the main school have turned their responses into the number 585,000 – the approximate death toll on all sides of the Passchendaele campaign – which is displayed in the school foyer.
