Welcome to all parents and carers. The PTA is a great way to make friends, meet other parents and support this fantastic school. However much you want to get involved, please come along to any PTA meeting which is advertised in the newsletter two weeks before the meeting or contact our Chair for more information.
The PTA values your views and you can support us in lots of ways, such as:
- Get to know your PTA by coming along to monthly meetings.
- Raise money from online shopping using ‘The Giving Machine’.
- Complete a Gift Aid form so the PTA can claim back the tax on any of your donations
- Signing up for the school 'lottery', the 50/50 club
- Coming along to social events such as the Quiz Night and Comedy Night
- Attending our bi-annual Summer Event or bi-annual May Ball

Fundraising at Waldegrave
Here at Waldegrave School we're busy fundraising by collecting old British or foreign coins and notes, even obsolete currency. Initially you'll see lots of posters around the school as well as the collection bucket. Once all the currency has been collected we send it to www.cash4coins.co.uk who exchanges it into cash we can use. The bucket will be here all year so keep it coming please.
How the money is spent!
SQUAD KITS & WISH LISTS
The PTA has paid for brand new squad kit for the hockey and netball teams who represent Waldegrave. The girls designed the kit themselves and we hope it will give them the professional edge in future competitions! Teachers were asked to draw up a wish list of equipment across all the departments which would enhance their teaching. The PTA paid for digital voice recorders, visualizers, thermochromic dyes, foreign language DVDs, Ukeleles, religious artefacts and a subscription to digital theatre to name but a few.
The PTA is delighted to have completed three new netball/tennis courts, joint-funded with school. The PTA contributed £25,000, plus a further £5000 generously donated by Hampton Fuel Allotments and a generous donation from the Masonic Province of Middlesex Charitable Trust of £4665 towards the costs of purchasing free-standing tennis posts, nets, trolleys and portable mini football.

LATEST FUND RAISING PLANS – FRONT RECEPTION DOORS
With the new sixth form building and the performing arts block creating a lot of excitement amongst the school as a whole, , it has been decided that the existing entrance and reception area could do with a facelift too. It would be good for the whole front of the school to have an updated look and feel as well as creating an even more welcoming entrance for girls and visitors.
It is early days, but the PTA in liaison with the school would very much like to support this project and will endeavour to get involved as much as possible as well as having the aim to financially fund this project.
If there are any parents who are able to give their time, energy and skills with this project management or architecture and design please contact the school directly who will put you in touch with the right people.

The meetings are very informal and there’s no obligation to commit to anything. They are usually held in the school from 7.30 to about 9pm often on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Waldegrave PTA AGM is held in Spring usually at the end of February. A small but perfectly formed group of parents and teachers attend for the purposes of the Chair's report, the Financial report from the Treasurer for the past financial year and confirmation of the Committee roles for the next financial year. Existing Committee members may choose to continue in their roles but nominations for all the posts are welcomed and voting takes place at the meeting. See the Chair's report and the Minutes of the last AGM in the DOWNLOADS section on this page for more details.
If you shop online regularly via the website thegivingmachine.co.uk there will be no cost to yourself but the companies will make a small donation to the school. All the major supermarkets and shops are there from Amazon to B&Q. It is easy to sign up as follows:
- Go to thegivingmachine.co.uk
- Click on Join and then click Join as a Giver
- Click Find Beneficiaries and then enter Waldegrave and search
- Click choose next to Waldegrave School and then SAVE
- You will then be asked to enter your details i.e. name, email, postcode and a password to register.
- You can then go shopping!
Donations and Gift Aid
If you are a UK tax payer you can fill in a Gift Aid form and register it with the PTA Treasurer which means the PTA can claim back the tax on any donations you make. You only have to fill it on once but you do need to let us know if your circumstances change. Remember we can’t make the claim without your form. The school fund is collected through the PTA which is a registered charity (Charity Number 297288) so that we can reclaim gift aid at no extra cost to you. For every £1 you donate we can get an extra 25p in reclaimed tax if you are a UK tax payer, making your donation go even further. Thank you to those parents who have already donated to the school fund your generosity has enabled the school to provide the school planner, rewards, other extra activities and resources which cannot be funded from the revenue budget.

The '50/50 club' is a monthly prize draw run by the PTA where 50% of cash generated makes up the lottery prize and 50% is kept by the PTA for the benefit of the school. Membership of the club is open to all parents, carers, staff and governors of Waldegrave School. Membership ceases when your daughter leaves the school or your association with the school ends. Individual numbers may be purchased for a year's membership and will cost as follows: £15 for 1 number, £24 for 2 numbers, £36 for 3 numbers, £48 for 4 numbers and £60 for 5 numbers. There is no limit to the amount of numbers you can buy. Each month the prizes will be drawn at the PTA meeting. The prizes are:
- First prize is 25% of monthly income
- Second prize is 15% of monthly income
- Third prize is 5% of monthly income
- 5% is kept back monthly and accumulates to form a Christmas Bonus Prize

Around £1600 is raised at the annual Quiz night which is usually held in March. Many thanks to all the volunteers who help to make the evening happen and to those parents and teachers who attend, whom without there would be no event. Even more thanks to those that help and take part.
(We could put a link here to information about the last event – Quiz Night 2015 - The new quiz masters, lead by Mr Duncan, brought some new and rather inventive rounds to the quiz which kept everyone racking their brains and marvelling at Mr Morse's musical talents. How he managed to sing the words of one song while playing the tune of another on his guitar we will never know. Parents, teachers and girls were all able to pitch their wits against one another. Only 3 points split the top 5 teams, so it was a close run thing.)
Comedy Night is always a roaring success. This is an 18+ event that takes place in the Autumn term. The comedians raise the roof with (raucous) laughter and usually we manage to raise over £2,200 for the school. Many thanks to all of you who attend this event, supporting the school whilst enjoying an evening out and even more thanks to our Comedy Night co-ordinator and wonderful team of volunteers. This event takes place every 2 years. It’s a very glamourous event usually held at the Richmond Hill Hotel raising approximately £4,000 profit.
This is a lively event held in the school hall with a live band and some great dancing. Approximately raising £nnnn profit.
The PTA provides drinks and snacks for students and parents at school events such as the Primary Induction Evening, Y7 Welcome Afternoon, Summer and Christmas concerts and Parents' Consultation Meetings and other School Open Evenings. All profits go towards PTA projects such as buying the equipment listed in the section above: ‘How the money is spent!’, so please come and support us.
These are held every couple of months - dates are advertised in the PTA section of the school newsletter. Please bring light gardening equipment and gardening gloves are a must! Students may also attend but must be accompanied by a grown up. The aim is to do a general tidy of the school grounds.
